Costing ecological restoration projects can be a difficult process.
Revegetation projects, with clear land areas, mulch quantities and plant
numbers, are the easiest projects to cost; they are very appropriate for
landowners to ask for lump sum quotes.
Managing remnant vegetation and conducting weed control is a different
matter because of the difficulty of measuring the present condition and
potential results. In addition, the perceived requirements for remnant
vegetation can change with ongoing observation of ecological processes
and the effects of weed control.
Practical Ecology has developed a different process for these kinds of
situations. The land owner can define a budget and ask different
operators to develop a proposed annual program according to a general
management plan and defined hourly rates. The programs from different
contractors can then be compared for quality of programs and how the
program reflects the skills of the various contractors.
Hourly rates are also available or we will respond to tenders or quote
for projects as required. Email Practical Ecology for a custom quote.
